PTAs will get help, says ministry

EDUCATION Minister Datuk Seri Hisham-muddin Tun Hussein said Parent-Teacher Associations will be given sufficient allocations to carry out their activities despite the economic downturn.

“The allocations given will depend on the number of students and activities in each school.
“We do not intend to reduce the allocation for poor students, uniforms and textbooks,” he told reporters after a closed-door meeting with Pahang senior education officers recently.

The meeting was aimed at getting views and feedback on the ministry’s policies and programmes particularly the National Education Blueprint and the Teaching of Science and Mathematics in English (PPSMI).

Hishammuddin said a committee chaired by Education director-general Datuk Alimuddin Md Dom had analysed all views from interested parties on the implementation of PPSMI. —
